I can deal with the issue because it does occasionally work and I don't need to be on it full time, but if anyone can help that would be great. Did you ever get this resolved?
I am having exactly the same problem and I need to do wedding photos. Did it have anything to do with creative 'cloud' as opposed to having everything set in your computer? My issue has been ongoing for the past four days, and supposedly 'fixed' on three separate occasions only to work for half an hour or so and then stop. Both the eraser toll and the spot healing tool that I know of wont work. A red spot comes up on the creative cloud icon when it decides not to work.

Magic - only partial Eraser tool erases. Since - whenever I tried to use the Magic Eraser tool, I need to click on the part I want to clear about 10 times before it finally disappeared.
Whenever I click on it, it loses a little more of the color, but it can be very difficult to see if the completely disappeared if I try to get a transparent background. I am sure that this has never happened before, and I don't see any setting that controls this. A search here and the internet was also futile sorry if this is here. Any ideas? A thought can be save and reopen the case if crop you the image, or change its color mode.
I fear that it means what it says: you cannot go further back than the culture you've probably run, because it's now the size of the image. Another solution is to crop later. The first is that my Eraser tool accused wrong when using my Tablet Wacom Intuos 5 average. It seems it seems very well with a mouse, however. But using my tablet, he feels that if he does not move in slow motion, almost as if there is some sort of "stabilizing" on it. It is the only tool that does this; pen my tool, etc.
I spent the Eraser brush and the problem persists. Second, sometimes Photoshop will refuse to pass tools. When this happens, it's always got stuck on the pen tool. I choose other tools, but the pointer will still look like and use the pen tool.
The only way to solve this problem is to restart Photoshop. I don't know exactly when it happened, but one day my search bar Google turned blue when I tried to kick it. How to remove the password required before starting on windows 7? Hello Looks like you have the Mode for the eraser, pencil instead of brush value tool. Thank you Hi, Travo, looks like you aren't in Photoshop, Illustrator, but! This will turn it back on every time you use the tool, even if it was turned off manually.
Hope this helps. Hi Birgit! You are my savior! The problem was the button on the top bar was activated, and I suppose it is activated by default because I don't usually configure the brush from that bar. Thanks a lot! You're welcome. Yeah, the top bar can be tricky as it overrides other settings.
Also with other tools. If somethings not working as expected I always first look up there, as most of the times it's some top bar setting that throws things.
