But the story is terrible. The aliens live like the poor people in South Africa so they are basically saying poor people are aliens and we need to get rid of them. And that is wrong we need to support poor people and help them be successful in life. The movie also show the current problems in the country with Nigerian gangs and violence in the poor areas of SA. This isn't a movie worth watching. This review Helped me decide 1. Had useful details 1. Read my mind 1. Report this review.

Teen, 16 years old Written by Kingturnip26 May 21, The plot is genius, and the effects are amazing. Two things to worry about? The violence and gore, and the language. The movie says the f word every two seconds, and there are discussions about sexual retaliations between humans and aliens, and people making jokes like "did you wear a condom? Almost all scenes have scenes with significant amounts of blood, which include experiments, surgeries, wounds, missing limbs, and guns that cause people too explode with blood, and skin.

Overall, great movie, good for mature twelve year olds who can handle blood and ogre, and many dead things. This title contains: Positive role models. Teen, 13 years old Written by LukeCon August 16, A subtly allegorical sci-fi story; not appropriate for young kids District 9 has an allegorical theme to its core--which makes it more than just a sci-fi story.

This makes District 9 an allegory of the apartheid years in South Africa, and not just an allegory of the apartheid in South Africa, but also an allegorical portrayal of racism. The film editing in District 9 is also very effective--especially the documentary-style filmmaking.

The use of interviews, news reports, and footage adds to the atmospheric realism of the film. It makes the events of the film feel more realistic--and does so in an effective way.

However, there are some very iffy elements in the film. While racism is a theme displayed throughout, District 9 also has some positive themes. District 9 displays the danger of bias and racism, a thought-provoking theme displayed throughout the film which could be discussed after seeing the film.

Another positive theme in the film involves empathy, and the importance of using empathy; empathy is displayed as well in the film. While the main character at first displays prejudice towards the aliens, he starts to understand their struggles and shows empathy towards them. While the aliens may look intimidating, they ultimately have a good heart--and attempt to help the main character in his situation. Violence occurs frequently throughout the film--and sometimes can get bloody. Many characters both humans and aliens are killed in tense scenes; blood is shown in several of these scenes.

A character is tortured by being jabbed with a cattle prod; this propels his hand to shoot an alien; blood splatters are shown. Jackson had originally picked Blomkamp to direct the movie version of Halo. District 9 has a great story, action and special effects. The movie also draws a picture of race, military contractors and humanity colliding in a bad way. Using the big test for parents, was it worth getting a babysitter to see the movie?

It's Rated R for bloody violence and pervasive language. Keep the little geeklets far away. If you let your teenagers see violent action movies, then they would be Ok with this. This was a small budget movie. It looks like all of that was put into special effects and action sequences. It seems like little of the budget was spent on camera mounts. A man with a gun threatens an alien.

A man with a gun threatens another man. A man is surrounded by men with guns. An alien waves a shovel at a man, and the alien is shot at it is not struck. A man strikes an alien in the head and the alien falls to the floor. People are shown gathered around a small ring where they are betting on a fight between two small aliens, we set the aliens move around the ring, one spears the other with a long spike and we hear a crunch and see liquid spurt they look like scorpions.

Armed soldiers fire weapons into the air. A soldier lunges at another man, threatens him and the man recoils. There is a large explosion outside a building and people inside are evacuated we see flames and rubble.

We hear about riots between humans and aliens and we see some scuffles between the two factions shoving and yelling. Many armed military personnel load onto vehicles and load their weapons. Angry protestors carry placards and chant outside a compound. Windows are blown out of tall buildings when a loud noise is emitted from an alien vessel. We see a dead man lying face down on the ground there's no blood.

We see the remains of aliens in a laboratory setting where experiments took place: in one scene we linger on the bloody remains of an alien. We see an "alien nursery" where eggs are fed by hanging animal carcasses and fluids pass through rubber tubing into the egg casings; a man disconnects several tubes and we hear screaming coming from the eggs. An alien hacks at a bloody piece of meat.

An alien hacks at something on the ground we hear crunching but we do not see what it is. Aliens are shown digging through garbage in a few scenes.
